New Family Health Plus program denied to immigrants
Gov. George Pataki has ruined the holiday season for thousands of
hard-working immigrants by denying them access to a new healthcare program,
according to the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC).
"We are shocked that the governor of New York -- a state that has been
built and continues to prosper by the sweat and tears of immigrants --
would refuse to include legal immigrants in the final legislation enacting
the Family Health Plus Program," said Margie McHugh, executive director of
the NYIC.
