Article: Black firefighters commemorated

In the face of the mainstream media's concealing the heroic rescue efforts
of African-American firefighters on Sept. 11, 2001, a Black photographer
has set out to capture and record the continuing history of a people.

Last Saturday, some 100 residents gathered at the Brooklyn-based Vulcan
Hall, home of the society of the city's Black firefighters, to watch
photographer Edmund A. Herman unveil artwork that commemorates the 12
African-American firefighters who died at the World Trade Center disaster.
