Miss Universe: The Lady Is A Winner

When I first saw the name Mpule Kwelagobe, I was struck by the sheer
lyrical sound of the name. Mmm-poo-lay Kwhe-la-hobay, I sounded out as I
attempted" to correctly pronounce her musical name. I did a great job on
her first name but stumbled a bit on the last. However, Mpule proved to be
of such sweet disposition she didn't even notice or at least, didn't
comment.

Mpule Kwelagobe, is Miss Universe, 1999. The first delegate ever to compete
for the title from the country of Botswana, let alone win it. She decided
to enter the pageant in order to focus attention on the AIDS problem that
