JEFF VAN GUNDY RESIGNS AS NEW YORK KNICKS HEAD COACH

New York Knickerbockers President and General manager Scott Layden
announced that Head Coach Jeff Van Gundy has resigned as coach, effective
immediately. Layden also announced that assistant coach Don Chaney would
take the place of Head Coach.

"We are surprised and disappointed by Jeff's decision to leave the
organization suddenly after 13 years," Layden said. "Jeff's coaching
abilities, passion to succeed and tireless work ethic were responsible for
much of the Knicks' success during his tenure. We are sorry to see him
leave, we thank him and wish him well."
