Hughes Views the News: Electoral College Has Ill-Famed History

This is the fifth time in American history (despite erroneous reports in
the mainstream media) when the American Electoral College has caused
disruptions in the nation's electoral process. Moreover, the electoral
college system has proved so troublesome in several other countries of the
world that they abolished it.

The first instance in the United States occurred in the election of 1800
for our third president. In that instance, as most school children should
know, the Electoral College vote was tied between Thomas Jefferson and
