THE HURRICANE: Denzel Washington blows audiences away as `The Hurricane'

Although the film opens in theaters today, Denzel Washington has already
received critical acclaim and a well-deserved Golden Globe nomination for
his riveting portrayal of boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, who spent 20
years in prison for a crime that he did not commit.

"The Hurricane" is based on Carter's autobiography "The Sixteenth Round,"
written while he was falsely imprisoned, and "Lazarus and the Hurricane,"
by Sam Chaiton and Terry Swinton. The action begins in 1963, when a sleek,
