These describe the four elements of hip-hop culture: the art of rhyming,
manipulating records on a turntable, breakdancing and spray painting art on
walls, respectively.

The culture, which began in the early 1970s in the Bronx borough of New
York, started within the black and Latino communities. The music in itself
spread like melted butter over toast throughout the United States in the
late 1970s and early 1980s. Before everyone knew it, hip-hop was everywhere
and continues to influence young and old hip-hop fans today.
