Physician Offers Sane, Smart Weight-Loss Plan

Obesity is a problem for all Americans. But it's worse for African
Americans - nearly 50 percent of African American women are overweight.

And recent research at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center
reveals that overweight women of color, when they are at rest, burn fewer
calories than overweight White women.

"These findings are among the first to suggest that biological factors may
be partly responsible for higher rates of obesity in Black women," says
