City Council to Vote on Urban Renewal Plan

The last chance for community members to voice their opinions on the city's
move to establish yet another urban renewal district-this time in Northeast
Portland-was Aug. 15. The City Council will vote on the urban renewal plan
at 9:30 a.m., Aug. 23, at City Hall, 1221 S.W. Fourth Ave.

The Interstate Corridor Urban Renewal Area would cover about 3,700 acres
following Interstate 5 north of Broadway to the Portland Metropolitan Expo
Center. Some of the neighborhoods within the boundary include Boise,
Humboldt, Piedmont, Eliot, Kenton, Bridgeton, Arbor Lodge, Overlook and
Portsmouth.
