Yusuf Bey, Oakland's controversial Black Muslim leader who is in court on
charges he had sexual relations with young African-American girls, has told
his supporters his doctor is only giving him a year to live due to an
advanced state of cancer.
Bey has cancer of the liver that cannot be operated on.
His attorney, Lorna P. Brown, has been trying to convince the court that
Bey is too ill to make court appearances.
However, his cable TV programs "True Solutions" has been airing and he
offered Mother's Day best wishes to the mothers of his children.
His supporters say Bey should be shown more compassion by the court. His
critics say Bey should be in court to face the ...
