Dangerous Trend In Black Teen Smoking

OAKLAND -- More Black teens are smoking cigarettes or small cigars be cause
they are removing portions of tobacco and replacing it with marijuana to
form what they call "blunts."
Rappers talk about it in their lyrics.
It makes boys feel cool.
Girls feel mature.
Donna Ayo and Lavina Smith of Baron's Bridges, a youth development agency,
learned about all that and more when they went to West Oakland's Lowell
Middle School this month where most of the students are African American
and from low income households. The women came to produce a video taped TV
