An Atlanta-based businessman is bringing the Matah Network to Nashville
where products manufactured by African-American businessmen and women may
be distributed to the Black community.
Matah is a word created in Philadelphia near the Matah Network's
headquarters and warehouse in Oaklyn, N.J., southeast of Camden. It means
"Those people of African descent who give and buy back," says Ashiki
Taylor, 49, one of the 12 people who started the network in November 1997.
Now, expanding to cities across America, the Matah Network is a channel for
distribution "to link Black manufacturers, Black business people and the
