Active preventive strategies are not the norm for the nearly 150,000
Americans who will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer this year. Less than
onethird of Americans over the age of 50 have undergone any type of
recommended colorectal cancer screening, and African-Americans are more
likely to be diagnosed with colorectal cancer at a more advanced stage and
more likely to die from it compared to other populations groups.

The National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (NCCRA), the Hereditary
Colon Cancer Association (HCCA) and New York - Presbyterian Hospital have
