Bypass Surgery Linked to Mental Decline

A decline in mental function immediately after heart bypass surgery may be
an indication that further intellectual decline will occur down the road,
according to a new study.
If future research confirms the findings, patients who experience mental
decline shortly after surgery may benefit from aggressive treatment to
protect mental function, according to the study's authors.
