(Pipe Dream) (U-WIRE) BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Binghamton University's wrestling
team may have lost a "major decision" before even taking a step onto
the mat. In a memo submitted to President Lois DeFleur Aug. 28, by
BU director of health, physical education and athletics, Joel Thirer,
recommended the elimination of the school's wrestling program at
the end of the season.
Because of new budget cuts, including a 5-percent cut on athletics,
the wrestling team was deemed financially expendable. DeFleur, who
has the final say in the matter, has not yet made a decision. According
