Intersil Corporation announced that its Elantec EL6298 laser diode driver (LDD) has been selected by Pioneer Corporation for use in its new multiple format CD/DVD writer. Intersil's EL6298 integrated circuit (IC) will provide the three current channels needed to read, erase, and write information onto CDs or DVDs in Pioneer's sixth generation recordable drive, the DVR-A06.
