Civil servants want NRS changed

KUALA LUMPUR, Wed. - The majority of civil servants polled today object to the New Remuneration Scheme which they said favours employees who are "close to their bosses".
Several said the scheme is a good one in "theory" but faces problems in implementation due to "human factors".
The NRS was implemented in 1992. Its aim is to encourage better work performance by determining salaries according to a matrix scale. This means civil servants either advance "diagonally or vertically" between salary scales or progress "horizontally" along the same scale.
