KUALA LUMPUR, Sat. - The Bar Council today urged the authorities to immediately charge the 27 members of the Al-Ma'unah deviationist group who are expected to face trial in a fortnight.
The 27 are currently being held under the Internal Security Act.
Bar Council president Sulaiman Abdullah said the body was saddened by the alleged violence perpetrated by the group which had caused the loss of lives.
"The parties responsible for these crimes must be held responsible and punished through the judicial process," he said in a statement.
