THOSE of us who have read the works of Francis Fukuyama must be familiar by now with his thesis that the end of history has arrived and that the world now lives under the triumphant banner of modernity and positivism.
True, there are indeed signs that would suggest that Fukuyama is correct in his observations. All over the world we see how the juggernaut of modernity has trampled underfoot the once-hallowed canons of tradition, custom and religion.
