ACCORDING to the Dec 8 issue of Asiaweek Malaysia has a population of 23.3 million and another source (Medium Rare - NST, Dec 6), estimates that each day, for the whole country, there is a build-up of 15,000 tonnes of rubbish.

This is the approximate weight of the same number of medium-sized cars. Since the cars are a lot more dense, the volume of rubbish to be cleared can easily be imagined.
