Villager survives 10-metre fall from coconut tree

KOTA BARU, Sun. - A 49-year-old villager, who earns a living by cutting tree trunks, survived a mishap when he fell 10 metres from a coconut tree and landed by the roadside in Tawang yesterday.
Ismail Yaacob, of Kampung Beris Panchor, was admitted to the Kota Baru Hospital with a fractured left leg and right hand.
He was atop the coconut tree when the lower stem, which was believed to have rotted, snapped.
The incident happened about 5pm.
