ON the occasion of the Independence and National Day, I convey my greetings to all citizens of Bangladesh living at home and abroad.
On March 26, 1971, we began our war of independence with a clarion call, made by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, that eventually earned us an independent Bangladesh. Three million people died and I pay homage to them.
I also remember with gratitude the contribution of all, including the freedom fighters and friendly countries, who helped achieve our independence.
