CDs, cassette tape prices cut in RIM bid to fight piracy

KUALA LUMPUR, Thurs. - Members of the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) today announced the reduction of compact disc and cassette tape prices as part of their effort to fight piracy.

RIM chairman Tony Fernandes said the prices of compact discs produced by RIM members would be reduced to RM19.90 from the current average of between RM38 and RM45.
Retail prices for cassette tapes are now cut by half to RM9.90.
