WE view with deep concern your article "Keeping abreast of abortion issue" (NST, July 8).

As a Catholic doctor, I strongly feel that we should not decriminalise the act of abortion by amending the laws to make it easier for a medical practitioner to carry out an abortion.
We have to protect the rights of the foetus and I feel deeply that the fundamental right of the unborn to live should be upheld.
