WHAT will happen if performance appraisal systems were abolished? Will business come to a halt? Will companies go bankrupt? Will workers go on strike? Well, I doubt it.
Indeed, many workers and their managers will collectively heave a huge sigh of relief. But the proponents of performance appraisal say that there are many advantages which can be gained from proper measurement of an employee's performance.
