Annual leave will not deprive teachers of school holidays

SHAH ALAM, Tues. - The Education Ministry's proposal to introduce annual leave for teachers will not deprive them of the school holidays of between 12 and 14 weeks.

Its Deputy Minister, Datuk Abdul Aziz Shamsuddin, and director- general Datuk Abdul Rafie Mahat, gave the assurance that the holidays would not be affected.
They said teachers did not have any leave entitlement under their terms of service as the school holidays were intended as rest-time for pupils.
