EMPTY wards of the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital had once served as a community hall where religious functions and Gurmukhi (Punjabi language) classes were held in 1918.

It was only on July 18, 1922 that these activities were conducted at the present 0.8-hectare site in busy Jalan Raja Alang (formerly Jalan Perkins).
