Tan, Ong create upset to go into quarterfinal

UNRANKED Tan Jie Yin and Ong Ying Yau of Jit Sin B staged an upset by beating joint third-fourth seeds Yeap Yi Yon and Lau Yi Hoong of Sum Sun 15-13, 15-5 in the girls third round doubles match in the Penang schools badminton championships yesterday.
With this win, Tan and Ong qualifed to the quarterfinal and will face Lim Gaik Pin and Yeap Chuen Theng of Keong Hoe who scored 15-7, 15-11 win over Yeap Hoay Fen and Wang Yee Fun of Poay Wah.
