IT was a gloomy afternoon in Cagliari. A fact accentuated by the fact that the 200-odd journalists from over 20 Asian countries had arrived in the Sardinian capital after spending a day and a night in beautiful, sunny Rome.
The rain had apparently poured all morning, which made for wet roads and slippery surfaces.
BMW had set up its test circuit at the Cagliari container terminal. A long-line of test cars, some 50, had been prepared for the occasion.
The first impression? The new 5-series was certainly unlike what it had looked in pre-launch pictures.
