Vic: Network Ten launches children's news program

MELBOURNE, Sept 29 AAP - Network Ten has launched a news program for children it hopes
will fill a void left by the axing of the iconic ABC program Behind the News, it announced
today.

The ABC's long-running children's program was axed as part of $26.1 million budget
cuts announced last month, angering schools, parents and Communications Minister Richard
Alston.

The Ten network's chief executive officer John McAlpine said its program, Behind Ten
News, would try to excite children about news and current affairs.
