Anwar files appeal in Federal Court

KUALA LUMPUR, Mon. - Former Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today filed an appeal in the Federal Court against the dismissal of his appeal against conviction and sentence for sodomy by the Court of Appeal.

The petition of appeal containing 87 grounds was filed at the Federal Court registry at 4pm by one of Anwar's counsel, Sankara N. Nair.
The Court of Appeal had, on April 18, dismissed the appeals by Anwar and his adopted brother Sukma Dermawan Sasmitaat Madja and maintained the conviction and sentence imposed on them by the High Court.
