Heavy alcohol use, colorectal cancer link

STONY BROOK, N.Y., Oct 13, 2003 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Stony Brook University researchers in New York report people with heavy alcohol consumption have a higher rate of colorectal cancer.

The researchers found those who drank at least nine glasses of alcoholic beverages made with distilled spirits per week for more than 10 years were much more likely than nondrinkers to develop colorectal cancer or premalignant polyps.
