The New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) has refused to extend ailing winger Jonah Lomu's contract beyond the World Cup, his manager Phil Kingsley-Jones said Friday.

Kingsley-Jones told a television talk show that Lomu's contract finishes at the end of the tournament which concludes Nov. 22 in Australia. He said the NZRU rejected an extension of six months he had sought for Lomu, now undergoing dialysis for a chronic kidney condition, and who is awaiting a kidney transplant.

"They've done to Jonah _ it was a dumping," television presenter Paul Holmes quoted Kingsley-Jones as saying.
