The New Zealand Rugby Union had made a "fair" contract offer to Jonah Lomu and had not dumped the ailing All Blacks winger as his manager claimed, chief executive Steve Tew said Saturday.

Lomu's manager, Phil Kingsley-Jones, accused the union of dumping its former backline star, who is battling a chronic kidney ailment, by making a contract offer which was "unacceptable and insulting."

Tew rejected Kingsley-Jones' claim Saturday, saying the union was "comfortable" with the offer it had made.
