Official results released by the Swiss government Monday underscored the meteoric rise of the nationalist Swiss People's Party from the smallest member of the governing coalition to the largest in eight years.

The People's Party, whose isolationist positions in recent years included opposition to refugees, the United Nations and European Union, swept to victory Sunday in national elections.
