AFL: Schwab against free agency

MELBOURNE, Oct 23 AAP - Hawthorn coach Peter Schwab has come out strongly against the
prospect of introducing free agency to the AFL, saying it would lessen interest in the
competition.

Prompted by the trading period fiasco where Hawks' key position player Jade Rawlings'
plan to join his brother Brady at the Kangaroos fell through, the push for free agency
has been reignited.

AFL Players Association chief Rob Kerr said the issue had been raised more often than
ever before by players in recent weeks.

But Schwab said it would create much greater divisions between the haves and have nots.
