Health authorities patrolled residential areas of India's capital Monday, spraying insecticide and urging people to cover-up after a policeman became the 24th person to die of dengue fever in New Delhi since late September.
Constable Birendra Singh, 38, died in a New Delhi hospital Sunday. The government says 1,898 people have also fallen sick since heavy monsoon rains ended.
Across the country, at least 113 have died, and 7,461 have fallen ill, a Health Ministry official said on condition of anonymity.
