Leipzig's mayor on Saturday called for an investigation of financial dealings that led to the departure of a third key official from the eastern German city's scandal-ridden bid for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Burkhard Jung, the city official assigned to handle the Olympic bid, was removed from his post Friday following accusations that he approved commissions to firms working on the bid that were against the city's interests, and failed to notify the bid's supervisory committee.
In one case, the commission reportedly amounted to euro150,000 euros (US$175,000) on a euro1 million (US1.17 million) contract.
