Limited Brands, the operator of Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works, reported a sharp rise in third-quarter earnings, mainly because of the sale of its remaining interest in Alliance Data Systems Corp.

The Columbus-based specialty retailer earned $129.7 million, or 25 cents a share in the quarter ended Nov. 1, compared with earnings of $15.8 million, or 3 cents a share, a year ago.

Limited Brands said the results include a gain of 16 cents a share related to the sale of its remaining interests in Alliance Data Systems Corp. A tax refund settlement added another 3 cents a share, and the company gained a penny per share from the sale of the ...
