Fed: Airspace reforms a joke, says chief air traffic controller

CANBERRA, Nov 24 AAP - Australia's chief air traffic controller has described new airspace
reforms as a joke.

Under new rules set to be introduced on Thursday, light aircraft will be allowed to
operate below 3,000 metres without radio or radar contact, or notifying air traffic controllers.

Airservices Australia's acting head air traffic controller Phil Faulkner said in a
leaked email that the changes would take Australia back 20 years.
