WITH an increasing reliance on information and communications technology in various sectors of the economy, suggestions have been made by political and government leaders, as well as those in the private sector, for ICT to be taught as a core subject in schools. Currently, ICT is only an elective subject.

According to dean of Faculty of IT at Universiti Tun Abdul Razak, Professor Dr Khairuddin Hashim, introducing ICT as a core subject will allow the country to "mass educate" the young in ICT.
In fact, such a move should also be replicated in technical and vocational schools ...
