Pittsburgh accepted a bid to the Continental Tire Bowl on Dec. 27 in Charlotte, N.C., after losing 28-14 to No. 10 Miami on Saturday night.

A Pitt victory would have given the No. 20 Panthers a share of their first Big East Conference title and BCS bowl bid, almost certainly to the Orange Bowl.

Pitt's likely opponent is Virginia (7-5), which beat West Virginia 48-22 in last year's Continental Tire Bowl before 73,535, the largest crowd for a non-BCS bowl. The Cavaliers beat No. 21 Virginia Tech 35-21 Saturday.
