(OSU Daily Barometer) (U-WIRE) CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Paris Hilton's new reality show debuted this week.

It's called "The Simple Life," and for those of you who are unaware, is about two millionaire socialite heiresses who leave behind their mansions and move in with a family in rural America, where hijinx and hilarity ensue as the girls tackle real work for the first time in their lives.

This got me wondering -- just what is it about reality TV that's so appealing? Why are people addicted to these shows?
