The Turkish government has asked the United States to hand over two members of one of Turkey's wealthiest families wanted on fraud charges, Turkish and U.S. officials said Monday.
The extradition request came after Turkey was tipped off that two members of the Uzan family could be in the United States.
They are wanted on charges that they committed fraud at the family's Imar Bank, which was seized earlier this year by Turkey's banking regulatory agency for alleged dangerous banking practices.
The two men have been missing since August.
