NEW YORK, NY - After a private meeting with the Chairman and CEO of Black
Entertainment Television (BET), Robert Johnson, Democratic Presidential
Candidate Reverend Al Sharpton announced that BET, in conjunction with the
National Action Network (NAN), will launch a major drive to help register a
million new voters by the Spring of 2004. The drive will be non-partisan
and not geared toward any particular candidate, but to encourage people to
participate in the electoral process, especially in light of the debacle of
the last national election in 2000 in Florida.
