NEW oil reserves discovered recently off Sabah, Malaysia's first deep-
sea find, may lead to the award of installation jobs worth several billion
ringgit in the coming months, said senior executives of Sarawak-based industrial
gas and service provider B.I.G. Industries Bhd.
The deepwater oil fields in Kikeh are estimated to have recoverable
reserve of between 400 million and 700 million barrels, they noted.
"Arising from these discoveries, we anticipate there will be several
billion ringgit worth of installation contracts to be awarded in the coming
months," B.I.G. chairman Datuk Mazelan Bugo said.
