Vic: Residents rally against toxic waste dump

MELBOURNE, Dec 21 AAP - Plans to dump toxic waste in a central Victorian community
sparked resident protests today.

Protesters said they aimed to block traffic on the Hume Freeway to show their opposition
to the possibility Baddaginnie, near Violet Town, would become a toxic waste dump.

Baddaginnie is one of three possible sites the government has chosen for the new dump.

Protesters said they planned to block Hume Freeway traffic in both directions at the
Strathbogie overpass from 11am (AEDT) to 1pm (AEDT).
