Sitting on the banks of the Delaware River a few hundred yards north of the
Benjamin Franklin Bridge, the area between Pier 36 and Pier 39 is nothing
but a vast, empty lot covered with a layer of tar. It also just so happens
to enjoy a panoramic view of the water.

Construction is set to begin there in January on the Waterfront Square
Condominiums and Spa, a five-tower, 743-unit gated community complete with
a three-acre park. The development, spearheaded by a group of Israeli
investors, is expected to cost some $280 million, and may help rejuvenate a
primarily industrial section of Northern Liberties.
