Several US auto-parts distributors have expressed interest in selling their
businesses to Thai investors, Thai Auto Part Manufacturers Association
vice president Sookjai Leungmekul said yesterday. The interest came after
the Board of Investment (BoI) announced a plan to group Thai companies
together to jointly acquire auto-parts chains in the US, he said.
Sookjai said the BoI should move further to implement the plan, which
he agreed would be strategically beneficial to the Thai auto-parts industry.

"It will help open up the US retail market for Thai-made auto-parts,
which is estimated to be worth between US$300 billion and $500 billion
