Index changes and company-specific news sent several Mexican shares tumbling lower Friday, while profit-taking took hold of the broader market.

The market's key IPC index closed down 66.99 points, or 0.7 percent, to 9,102.82, after having hit a record high Thursday. Volume totaled a hefty 122.8 million shares traded worth 1.79 billion pesos.

Broadcaster TV Azteca's CPO shares continued to tumble following the company's acknowledgment that its chairman was involved in a murky transaction at wireless communications affiliate Unefon.
